appearance
Short black hair crowns Alyss' head, while dark blue eyes seem to remain ever cold and alert. While the woman has a relatively thin and partly curved physique, there still remains some obvious muscle mass from the years of military training that have gotten her to this point. To that end, her posture is always neat and upright, never turning to leisure or relaxation of any form. Such is how she was trained, such is what she prefers, such is what remains.
In regards to clothing, she mostly favors military garb. A dark green uniform, complete with black combat boots, covers most of her form most of the time, kept just as neat and tidy as the rest of herself. At such rare times as she considers herself off-duty, however, she favors more informal and loose-fitting garb. A baggy kimono wrapped neatly around the waist is a common sight at such times, something she can still move reasonably well in while retaining plenty of room for a few well-hidden weapons should she ever need them. A woman of two faces, one might almost say considering just her attire... except she only ever shows one face, rendering the observation something of a fallacy.
personality
Sergeant Dunel, as she frequently demands to be called regardless of the situation, is not what one would call a friendly person. She's outwardly cold and sometimes snappy, and unlike many people, this woman does not show any sort of soft interior. She doesn't like sweets, she doesn't like flowers or 'pretty' colors, and she especially doesn't like the inhuman residents of Magna, the beastfolk. Zoidians, as well, she has a certain distaste for, but this comes rather in passing, especially with how few there are around; to her they're more a small, insignificant stain than anything else. Rather, what she prefers is humanity, what she enjoys is her work, and to her, that is simply that.
Thus, in battle as in non-combat situations, she's ever strict and rigid about everything. She's persistent; she'll not back down if she believes herself to be right, and this she believes quite often, even on occasion when a superior overrules her. All in all, unless she recognizes someone's talents (which itself is somewhat rare), she is not an easy person to get along with, and this itself is something she doesn't mind. Who needs getting along when one can get things done, after all?
Such is her logic, and she's sticking to it, things that she doesn't consider important be damned.
history
Five years after Zi fell and humanity found Magna, and Alyss Dunel was born to one of the various families that preferred to remain behind on the space station orbiting the planet, far away from those likely dangerous 'beastfolk.' Here she gained from infancy a distaste and distrust for the creatures... never mind the fact that it was humanity that was invading and stealing away their land. The things were beneath them, after all; nowhere near as technologically advanced, unable to really fight back. That was how the world worked: humanity won. Humanity was right.
So went her teachings from a young age, and perhaps if there were beastfolk around to defend themselves from such prejudice on the space station, things might have been different. Unfortunately, there weren't, and by the time she even met any beastfolk after transferring down to the surface at age 16 for military duty, the teachings were already far too ingrained. She already knew to keep the creatures beyond arm's length, to not trust whatever they might claim, and even, perhaps, to make some use of them when it might be convenient. Something she didn't want to ever have to do, but the option was there, and per her teachings, she knew they'd not be able to resist such orders.
Like that she continued, confident in humanity's superiority, confident in her growing skills, and perhaps more so, confident in her rising rank. She was not proven particularly skilled at first, having shied away from much physical activity up on the station; rather, it was her own desire to prove herself and be strong that pushed her steadily forward, and allowed her to steadily grow. Some six years after she enlisted, she'd finally reached a sufficient rank and reputation to pursue Zoid pilot training. Assigned a Demantis for her growing skill with melee weapons and insistence on using them rather than the guns that were 'a weakling's tool,' she once again struggled at first, far unused to anything like the Zoid's controls. Three years later and she'd properly developed her skills in the cockpit, a slightly further distaste for the beastfolk and even, to a degree, Zoidians, and her full rank of Sergeant. All she hopes now is for the ZMA to stop being so weak and to finally be rid of the foul beastfolk... or at least keep them all in servitude.
